Georgi Metodiev from Sofia is 1 year old. When he was 10 months old he was diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy – hemiparesis. Fortunately, his case is not very severe and the continuous courses of physiotherapy give excellent results. However, the clinical pathways covering the rehabilitation procedures are insufficient and the hospital often refuses to accept the child. Georgi’s mother who cares for her two children alone cannot afford paid procedures. October
Georgi Georgiev from Rousse is 9 years old. Ever since he was two he has had problems with his right leg. The child has undergone a number of painful operations without any improvement.The forthcoming operation of the boy’s leg is his parents’ only hope, but in order to perform this operation the doctors need a device with special appliances which is not available at the Multiprofile Hospital for Active Treatment in Rousse. The only possibility is for the parents to buy such device. The Fund has contributed EUR 285 for the purchase of the special bone fixation appliances and up to EUR 500 to cover the costs for the operation. October
Alexa Ilyanova from the village of Kazichane, district of Sofia is 6 months old. Her diagnosis is retinopathy (retinal detachment) which is common in newborn babies. The amount approved for the eye operation in the town of Kaluga, Russia is BGN 2 500.October

The P.R.Slaveykov Children’s Home
in the city of Sofia provides home and education for neglected children, some of them with damages. For the new 2007-2008 school year the Boarding School looks for an opportunity to secure medicines of primary importance and flu vaccines for the children. The Fund has provided BGN 2500 to buy medicines and flu vaccines. October

"Ivan Vazov" Specialized Boarding School
During the school year 107 children with intellectual deficiencies and various other problems live and receive education at Ivan Vazov Specialized Boarding School in the village of Novo Selo. At the beginning of the new 2007-2008 school year the school faced the impossibility to provide medicines. PROtegni Raka traditionally provides support to the school in the village of Novo Selo. This year, for the third time in a row it was decided that for a period of one year the Fund will provide BGN 200 per month to buy medicines for the school. October
Pamela Grozeva is 3 years and 10 months old and lives in Burgas. She has Cerebral Palsy – severe spastic quadriparesis. As a result of her illness, Pamela has difficulties in moving and needs Botulinum injections. After the administration of two Botulinum injections Pamela’s condition is visibly improving. So far, the Fund has provided funds for a second Botulinum injection. October
Jaffer Shakirov from the town of Asenovgrad is two and a half years old. His diagnosis is Cerebral Palsy – hemiplegia retarding limb development. His parents have applied with us for the purchase of Botulinum Toxin to be used for treatment of Boy’s right arm and leg as their development is retarded and this toxin is used to relieve muscles, thus allowing normal limb development. October
Aleksander and Konstantin Sirakovi are 1 year old each. They, after being hardly and prematurely born, suffer from Child cerebral Paralysis. The doctors recommend permanent kinesitherapy, barochamber and other procedures, thinking that this will improve the children’s condition. But these manipulations are too expensive for the young family, so they turned to “PROtegni raka” for help. The fund granted each of the twins 1 000 lv. for rehabilitation. October
Nina Doncheva from Sofia is 3 years old. She was prematurely born and has problems with one of her legs, her eyes and different mental problems. Fortunately, her illness is in a mild form and the physiotherapy courses give excellent results. However, the clinical pathways covering the rehabilitation procedures are insufficient and the hospital often refuses to accept the child. The Fund will provide BGN 800 for Nina’s rehabilitation. October

The St. Mina Daily Centre for children with cerebral palsy, autism and Down ’s syndrome in the city of Sofia provides care to children between 5 and 15 years of age. They are divided into three age groups. The Centre was established in 1997 and offers very good conditions for stay and therapy. Children stay there only in the daytime and I the evenings they go home. Different pedagogues and doctors take care of their adaptation. This is the second time that ProCredit Bank funds the purchase of medicines for urgent medical aid for the needs of the St. Mina Daily Centre. November
Bozhidar Stoyanov is 4 years old. He was prematurely born in the 30th gestation week and weighed 1 700 g. After the primary reanimation procedures he was intubated and sent to the Clinic of Neonatology at the University State Hospital for continuous treatment. As regards retinopathy, the child has undergone a course of cryotherapy for both eyes. The therapeutical scheme prescribed includes motive rehabilitation and recreational therapy. Currently the child can walk almost unaided. November
Paola Pavlova was prematurely born due to placenta detachment. She weighed 1300 g and was 43 cm high. As a result, the child had hydrocephaly and retinopathy. A short time after the child’s birth it had a valve implanted but due to an infection it now has to be replaced by a new one. November
Peter Ankov Ognyanov from the village of Kriva Krusha, Municipality of Nova Zagora is 1 year old. Prematurely born in the 28th week of his mother’s fifth normal pregnancy he weighed 980 g and was 34 cm high and his general condition was bad. After the primary reanimation procedures, the child underwent a course of treatment with antibiotics and 26-day oxygen therapy. As a result of its stay in an incubator, the child’s eyesight was damaged. In September 2007 Peter’s left eye was operated on at the Eye Microsurgery Clinic in the town of Kaluga, Russia. Peter’s family turned to the PROtegni Raka fund to help them raise funds for the operation of Peter’s right eye at the same clinic. November
Monika Zlateva is 3-years old with the diagnosis Child cerebral paralysis, discovered when she was an 8 months baby. Her parents are wholly engaged in her disease and beacause of this reason they have moved and are leaving in lodgings in Plovdiv now. Through their heavy financial condition, they applied for help to our fund in view to provide the means needed for the child's treatment (rehabilitation, logoped and swimming). December
Plamen Dimitrov is 1 year and 3 months old and comes from Razgrad. He was born with a defect on the left arm and amputation was necessary to be made. The hospital recommended installing of a prosthesis. Plamen’s parents turned to "PROtegni raka" with an appeal for financial help for purchasing the prosthesis. Plamen is an extremely smiley and cheerful child. "PROtegni raka" helped for purchasing the prosthesis and we believe that it will help Plamen to feel as all of its coevals. December
Vasilka Tonova is 7 years old from Yoakim Gruevo village, Plovdiv region. She suffers from Child Cerebral Paralysis pursued by epilepsy- this diagnose was given when she was only 8 months of age. Vasilka was operated in “Tokuda” hospital in September, this year, being on post operational rehabilitation procedures in “St. Sofia” center. A second surgery is forthcoming again in “Tokuda” hospital, the expenses of which are due to the Health Department. A monthly hospitalization is recommended for specialized rehabilitation. “PROtegni raka” helped little Vasilka with 1 000 lv. for the needed rehabilitation. December
Sandrina Dimitrova is 6 years old from Sofia. She suffers from Spastic Child Cerebral Paralysis. This diagnose was given when Sandrina is one and a half years old. Her parents turned to “Protegni raka” asking for financial help for additional treatment in specialized hospital “St. Sofia”. Sandrina is highly communicative and does not stop smiling. “PROtegni raka” helped for additional treatment and specialized rehabilitation, which are very important to children, suffering from CCP. We hope that, in defiance of the insidious disease, Sandrina can preserve her radiant smile. December
Iva Ilieva is 5 years old from Vidin. Four months after she was born it is noticed that she falls behind with her motor development. Because of that Iva is sent to clinic specialized in children neurology in Sofia for diagnostic specifying. She was diagnosed Child Cerebral Paralysis. She needs permanent rehabilitation, physiotherapy, logopedical and psychological occupation. “Protegni raka” helped with 1000lv for the necessary specialized procedures for Iva. December
ProCredit Bank (Bulgaria) AD donated 4 used computers to “Protegni raka”. Afterwards the fund donated them to 28th school “Aleko Konstantinov”, Sofia, Krasna Polyana district. December
Aleksander Klichurov is 3 years old from Sofia- he suffers from Child Cerebral Paralysis. At the moment he can make steps on his own, he is active- he speaks and is very social. It is noted in the epicrisis from 14th of December, 2007, that the disease is progressing, there had not been any complications and after the therapy there is an improvement regarding the decreasing of the muscle spasticity. Little Sashko needs monthly specialized rehabilitation, which the parents cannot afford to pay for. The fund helped with 1000lv for the needed procedures. December
